What is Smart Drive?
Unlike conventional machines, our clothes washers use intelligence to continually adapt the wash action and water level to suit the load.
How? Sensors in the electronics monitor clothes movement and adjust the agitator for either a gentle or lively action. It's rather like hand washing, where your hands communicate the feel of the fabric to the brain, which in turn tells the hands how hard or soft to rub the clothes.
1. Intelligent Electronics
The powerful microprocessors controlling our clothes washers monitor and respond to each wash. Incredibly, over 10,000 lines of instruction are contained in the 'brain'. Each line controls a different aspect of the wash and has been based on years of exhaustive laundry testing by our development team.
2. Agitator
Flexible agitator fins work in conjunction with the motor to understand your wash. Delicate fabrics will slither around the fins, whereas heavy fabrics will move with more resistance. Sensors in the motor measure this resistance to effectively "feel" the load.
3. Direct Drive Motor
Our revolutionary direct drive motor is capable of infinite wash actions, continuously adjusting its speed to the movement of your clothes to remove dirt while caring for the fabric.
Temperature Control
In the mixing chamber, the clothes washer monitors incoming hot and cold water to ensure the right temperature. Because detergent performance drops off below 20 °C (68 °F), our clothes washers give you a "controlled cold" option to automatically add a little warm water to cold washes to bring them up to 20 °C (68 °F).
Performance you can count on
As gentle as hand washing
For delicate items the system operates at very slow agitate speeds. This means you can machine wash clothes you would normally only hand wash.
Less water
Through load sensing, our clothes washers use only the right amount of water required, no more. This dramatically reduces water consumption, preserving our natural resources.
Reliable performer
The direct drive motor has no mechanical brake, pulleys or gears, which means fewer moving parts and greater reliability. If it isn't there it can't fail.
